In the SEAL Teams, we are taught to never settle for something that is sub-par or not up to the standard, whether this is a piece of equipment, a weapon or a person. Everyone on the team is a cog in the wheel, and in war, a weak link can often mean death or serious injury for you or a teammate. As combat Veterans, we came to CBD first as users. Both searching for something to help settle down after a lifetime of being revved up. A natural option that would lessen or eliminate entirely any need for alcohol or prescription medications as coping mechanisms. A common problem both in the Veteran Community and the Civilian side of America.
CBD or Cannabidiol is one of over a hundred Cannabinoids within the low THC Hemp Plant a sub-species of the Cannabis Sativa plant known as Industrial Hemp. Industrial Hemp Plants have THC levels below 0.3% as allowed by the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, thus making the plant federally legal. The New York Times has recently stated CBD is a “magical elixir, a cure-all now available in bath bombs, dog treats, and even pharmaceuticals.”
THC another well-known cannabinoid within Cannabis and found in trace amounts up to 0.3% in Hemp. This is the cannabinoid tested for in drug screens
Many are confused when first learning about CBD and whether or not CBD will make you feel "high", it will not. CBD is a non-Psychoactive Cannabinoid. As some may know the "high' feeling is caused by the "psychoactive" cannabinoid THC or tetrahydrocannabinol.
CBD has become extremely popular as of late especially among the veteran community. As more and more desire to step away from prescription medications and opt for natural products and disciplines to help themselves.
Our country has been suffering from a prescription epidemic magnified within the veteran community. One where it seems that anxiety and depression meds are handed out to silence the issues that need to be addressed. In my personal experience this helped for a period of time, but in turn, left room for deep-seated problems to fester.
The mind, it runs the entire show and is at the epicenter of who you are and how you see the world. It is a highly tuned machine of which we still know very little about, a potential untapped as of yet by humanity.
Your brain is constantly adjusting itself to whatever environment it is in, learning and growing stronger. For the disciplined, it can be honed into a tool of used to successfully conquer your life, your goals, and your inner bitch One's ability to work a problem and block out the proverbial noise is not a skill one is born with, but rather one earned over time through discipline routine, mental practices and not succumbing to the mind's ever-present efforts at sabotage.
How can CBD help me balance my mind? Lessen my Anxiety? and change my life ?. Studies are currently underway in humans and animals to further our knowledge of exactly what is happening within your Body & Mind when you take CBD.
One study stated the following, "CBD research in animal models and humans has shown numerous therapeutic properties for brain function and protection, both by its effect on the ECS directly and by influencing endogenous cannabinoids. Broadly, CBD has demonstrated anxiolytic, antidepressant, neuroprotective anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory benefits. CBD decreases the production of inflammatory cytokines, influences microglial cells to return to a ramified state, preserves cerebral circulation during ischemic events, and reduces vascular changes and neuroinflammation"(1)
Neurons firing within the human brain
The potential of CBD to help within the Veteran space and all who suffer from similar conditions is truly remarkable. The Hemp plant has 100s of uses and hopefully will eventually be grown in every state across the nation. Offering many a safe alternative to the status quo.
Common among Veterans :
TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)
PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
Loss of Community (after leaving service)
Veterans are a unique community, to say the least. I am grateful for where I have come from, the life I've chosen to live, the experiences I've had and the brothers and sisters that have shared them with me. Yes, even all the dings that come with it, physical and mental. Having been down the rabbit hole myself, I am determined to spread the knowledge of CBD as well as other natural medicines and practice to those that could use them the most.

Coming from a life where exposure to explosive blasts and daily high-stress situations was the norm. I can honestly say there is a wearing down of your body and mind's ability to regulate emotional state and life in general. One that requires a conscious redirect of focus after exiting the military.
Another study stated the following: "CBD has positive effects on attenuating psychotic, anxiety, and depressive-like behaviors. The mechanisms appear to be related to the CBD's benefit to provide enhanced neuro-protection and inhibition of excessive neuroinflammatory responses in neurodegenerative diseases and conditions. Common features involving neuro protective mechanisms influenced by CBD—oxidative stress, immune mediators, and neurotrophic factors—are also important in conditions such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), post concussion syndrome, depression, and anxiety." Research is being done daily to further the understanding of Hemp-Derived CBD and all of the benefits it could offer its users. Will and I are honored to be apart of the industry and to lend a hand to those who are looking to venture into natural healing.
